Sesión de Romance: entrevista a Marie Treanor + sorpresa

Estamos llegando a la conclusión de la Sesión de Romance del mes de febrero. Me da penilla, pero creo que compensa la entrevista de hoy. ¡Qué ilusión tengo! Estoy encantada de haber hablado con MARIE TREANOR, una escritora a la que admiro por su capacidad de entretenerme y emocionarme al mismo tiempo. He leído varias novelas suyas y cada vez me gusta más su estilo de acción paranormal y romance hot, hot. 

Primero, quisiera compartir algunas cubiertas de sus novelas. Puedo decir que he leído Blood Guilt y me lo pasé genial con cada página, desde la acción al torbellino emocional hasta las escenas sensuales.

What do you think is the reason for the success of your books?

Not sure I’m the best person to answer that! I’d like to think it was a mixture of being able to identify with my characters and yet still escape into fantasy worlds with powerful, sexy heroes J. I hope readers also like the humour as well as the steamy encounters…

¿Por qué crees que tus libros tienen éxito? No sé si soy la persona indicada para decirlo. Me gusta pensar que se debe a que es posible identificarse con los personajes y, al mismo tiempo, escapar a mundos de fantasía con héroes sensuales y poderosos. Espero que a los lectores también les guste el sentido del humor tanto como las escenas de alto voltaje.

What is the most romantic thing that's ever happened to you?

Hmmm…Probably when my husband arranged a secret weekend in Bruges, a city I’d wanted to visit for some time. He didn’t tell me what we were doing or where we were going, but arranged for his brother to come and look after our kids while we were away. We stayed in a beautiful hotel in a sixteenth century building overlooking a canal and had a lovely weekend away from it all!

¿Qué es lo más romántico que te ha pasado? Mmm, probablemente cuando mi marido preparó una escapada secreta a Brujas, una ciudad que deseaba visitar hacía tiempo. No me dijo qué íbamos a hacer ni a dónde íbamos, pero planeó que su hermano cuidara de los niños mientras nosotros estábamos fuera. Nos alojamos en un precioso hotel en un edificio del siglo dieciséis que tenía vistas a un canal y disfrutamos de un maravilloso fin de semana lejos de todo.

Romance plus blood sucking, how do you make that work?

Well, it’s not as hard as it might seem! The whole idea of the vampire – powerful, immortal, more than human – creates the possibility of a love greater than any experienced by or with mere mortals. A strong, protective,  lover who perhaps rediscovers his – or her - humanity through love, can be irresistible. Especially if he’s handsome! Plus, neck-biting is sexy to a lot of people – necks are erogenous for many J

Romance y chupar sangre, ¿cómo pueden funcionar juntos? Bueno, no es tan difícil como parece. La idea en sí del vampiro -poderoso, inmortal, más que humano- crea la posibilidad de un amor más grande del que se puede experimentar siendo humanos o con meros humanos. Un amante fuerte y protector que quizás redescubre su humanidad mediante el amor puede ser irresistible. ¡Especialmente si es guapo! Además, mucha gente encuentra sensuales los mordisquitos en el cuello, es una zona erógena para muchos ;o)

What's your guilty pleasure?

Reading, or watching films or tv while eating chocolate and cake J

¿Cuál es tu placer inconfesable? Leer o ver películas o la tele mientras como chocolate y tarta.

What are your writing goals for 2014?

I’ve set myself some heavy goals for this year! I want to publish two more novels and a novella in the Blood Hunters series, which I think should bring the series to a conclusion – although still with the possibility of other, related books. I also want to bring out two more stories in the Serafina’s series; and another two in The Gifted series which I’ve been neglecting due to other pressures but which are such fun to write! As well as those, I’ve signed a contract with Samhain for a new contemporary paranormal romance, In His Wildest Dreams, which should come out in August, and the third of my NightDreamz novellas at Changeling Press releases in March. Apart from all that, I’d like to make a start on another spin-off series set in the Awakened by Blood/Blood Hunters world, and – who knows what I’ll think of in the second half of the year? J.

¿Cuáles son tus metas literarias para 2014? Me he propuesto unas metas muy serias. Quiero publicar dos novelas más y un relato en la serie de Blood Hunters, con lo que finalizaría la serie aunque cabría la posibilidad de otros libros relacionados. Quisiera también publicar dos historias más en la serie de Serafina y otros dos en la serie de The Gifted. A esta última la he dejado un poco de lado debido a otros compromisos, pero es muy divertida de escribir. Además, he firmado un contrato con Samhan para publicar un romance paranormal contemporáneo, In His Wildest Dreams, que saldría en agosto, y la tercera parte de mis relatos de NightDreamz, con Changeling Press, sale en marzo. Aparte de todo eso, me gustaría comenzar una serie basada en el mundo de Awakened by Blood / Blood Hunters, y quién sabe qué pensaré para la segunda mitad del año.

He doesn’t have to be handsome (although it helps J), just have that look in his eye, and be both fun and funny, intelligent and thoughtful - like my husband J

Describe en una frase el tipo de hombre por el que te derretirías. No tiene por qué ser guapo, aunque eso ayuda, pero tiene que tener esa mirada, y ser divertido, tener sentido del humor, inteligencia y ser detallista, como mi marido.
